Educational weight pulling presentations for grades K-6 are offered to the Elementary Schools within the North Star Borough of Alaska.
These presentations offer a verbal, visual and hands-on opportunity for students to learn responsible dog ownership, appropriate behavior when around dogs and the history of weight pulling in Alaska.
Members of Interior Freight Dog Association, volunteer their time and dogs for these presentation so the students can become familiar with dogs while the dogs also get a chance to demonstrate their true dog strength.
The students put themselves into groups so they can estimate which dog can pull which group of students. This is a great way for the students to learn while having fun regarding how much weight (as a group) a said dog can pull compared to that dog's body weight.
Student receive multiple hand-outs to take home and share with their families and friends.
